Blog from your iPhone
I’ve been testing this app and have to say that it is outstanding! I can virtually blog from anywhere.
Start promoting yourself for less than $10 bucks
I recently was asked by a friend, “How do I get a website”? The first thought that went through my head was that I needed to offer this person a solution that was incredibly simple and inexpensive. There are many ways to get a website up and running and many potential problems and costs that you may run into depending on the type of site you want to have. For the sake of time and money, let’s say you just want a personal website that you can maintain yourself with little to no programming ability and with a very small budget.
Solution: WordPress.com
Step 1: (Cost $9.99)
Register your domain name with GoDaddy. You can do the same thing with other registrars, but GoDaddy does have very low prices and their customer service is good.
Step 2: (Cost $0)
Create a site at WordPress.com. They offer plenty of instructions and the process is very quick and simple. Video tutorials can be found on wordpress.tv. There are no hosting charges unless you upgrade and/or your site becomes ultra popular and you start getting slammed with hits. But that would be a good thing!
Step 3: (Cost $0)
Log in to GoDaddy and redirect your site to go to your new wordpress.com site URL.

WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin is Fantastic!
I’ve been testing the Automatic Upgrade Plugin for WordPress the last few weeks. I have used it for the last two WP upgrades 2.6.1 and 2.6.2. So far it has worked flawlessly to provide simple and seamless upgrades. I do follow each step in the process without ever selecting the option to “skip” a step. I should add that I have actually run four upgrades successfully as I am using this plugin on two separate WP installations.
On a third, separate installation, I was not able to successfully run the upgrade. I’m not surprised though as this instance is behind a firewall and running on a Windows server.
WordPress Batch Categories A Must For Any Blogger
I was in the process of moving many of my tech related posts from my dontlookhere site to my new site (here), when I discovered how painful it was going to be to categorize and tag all the entries. After a quick search, I found Batch Categories from RobM. It’s not perfect, but it’s close. This little plugin saved me a ton of time (re)organizing all my tech related posts and tags. The only drawback so far with this plugin is that it doesn’t seem to be fully CSS compliant with Firefox and Safari. I have not yet test on a PC using Internet Explorer yet, but I’d prefer to not have to use a PC if possible. The problem it has is with the navigation not showing properly. See my pic below. Other than that, kudos to Rob for building a great plugin.
